Garrett is very sick due to an infection in his brain that is causing swelling and pressure. The doctors describe his condition as: "Patent has streptococcal subdural empyemas and sinusitis and has been experiencing elevated intracranial pressure. He's undergone interval left frontoparietal hemicraniectomy with placement of a soft tissue drain." Which in English, translates to: A sinus infection got into his brain and he's been experiencing swelling and complications associated with this bacterial infection ever since. Once the swelling peaks, he will en route to recovery. Garrett is staying at the UCSF PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) Children's Hospital (http://www.ucsfhealth.org/childrens/) located at 505 Parnassus Ave. San Francisco, CA 94143. |
